The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, scheduled for the summer of 2021, will no longer change the date.
The reason for this is that the host country will not be able to host a prestigious sporting event like the Olympics for the second time.
“Our Japanese partners and personally the Prime Minister have made it clear that the Games will not be postponed until next summer,” the IOC said on its official website.
The 2020 Olympics were supposed to be held from July 24 to August 9 this year, but you know it was postponed to the same dates next year due to the pandemic situation around the world. The decision came after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe proposed to IOC President Thomas Bach the idea of moving the Olympics. At the same time, Japan had announced that it would not postpone the Olympics for more than a year.
