On February 4th, the honored coach and former athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Babanina Svetlana Viktorovna, celebrated her 77th birthday. Tokyo Olympic medalist of 1964 (200 meters breaststroke) and world record (4×100 in combined relay).

Svetlana Viktorovna was one of the best female swimmers in the world in the mid-1960s. She made her debut at the 1962 European Championships. The 1964 Olympic Games became its best international tournament, having won bronze in the 200 m breaststroke and relay race. Also participated in the 1966 European Championships and the 1968 Olympic Games. She became the bronze medalist of the 1965 Universiade at a distance of 200 meters. Svetlana Viktorovna broke two world records in her career (1: 17.2 in 1964 and 1: 16.5 in 1965).
